{"id":280,"date":"2012-02-24T07:38:22","date_gmt":"2012-02-24T13:38:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/allenergyconsulting.com\/blog\/?p=280"},"modified":"2012-02-27T15:53:30","modified_gmt":"2012-02-27T21:53:30","slug":"2012-gasoline-price-forecast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/allenergyconsulting.com\/blog\/2012\/02\/24\/2012-gasoline-price-forecast\/","title":{"rendered":"2012 Gasoline Price Forecast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">As I sit in the airport, I see the front page <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/money\/industries\/energy\/story\/2012-02-22\/gas-prices-average\/53229358\/1\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; color: #0000ff; font-size: small;\">USA Today \u201cMost ever could get hit by $5 gasoline\u201d<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">.\u00a0\u00a0 This reminds me to revisit my old blog I posted last year about the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/allenergyconsulting.com\/blog\/category\/oil-petroleum-products\/\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; color: #0000ff; font-size: small;\">rule of thumb for forecasting the peak gasoline price<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">.\u00a0\u00a0 Now that the fourth quarter data is available, your trusted energy consultant has given you the magic wand to be as great of a pundit as those found in the USA Today article.\u00a0 According to the EIA , the fourth quarter USGC gasoline averaged $2.59\/gallon.\u00a0\u00a0 Using the magic wand, we produce a retail price range of $3.70-$5\/gallon with the most likely result being closer to $4\/gallon.\u00a0\u00a0 Now you too can be in the USA Today.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Let me remind you the reason I posted the original article in the first place.\u00a0 At the time of the blog, the administration was taking credit for the lower gasoline price.\u00a0\u00a0 I warned them in the blog this was not wise and that they are missing the seasonal factors.\u00a0 In addition, I noted prices on a year to year basis were up 30%.\u00a0 Now we see the Republicans blaming the President for high gasoline prices.\u00a0\u00a0 I will say the President\u2019s ability to control gasoline prices in the near term is very limited, but it goes with the territory for taking credit when it was low in December.\u00a0 The lesson to learn is: Be careful about taking credit when it is not yours to take.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">We positively and evocatively challenge the current thinking involving any aspect of energy use.
